SAY

Three letter word. It can make or break things. Words are used to say heart warming things, heart breaking things and everything in between. But most of the words, thoughts of the mind don't get the privilege of being said out loud in the open. And then there is also the regret of saying things which one shouldn't have. 
There are times when one knows the right words but the can't seem to find the right person. There are times when the words can't seem to truly express one's intention to the right person. There are times when the right words and the right person are deserted by the right time. There are times when words aren't necessary to make the right person understand. And then there are times, the most crucial, when one just has to say the right words to oneself, for oneself.


REFRESH

Seven letter word. Something one can do when things around one get too messy or get out of hand, start afresh. A clean slate is all one needs sometimes. Lucky are those who get the chance to refresh. Start something new or something over again, without having to deal with bias or prejudice. Difficult it is, for every single person is secretly judging every single person whom they meet. These judgments heavily paint the lens through which one perceives the world and the circumstances one faces.

Sometimes, little more in the recent times, I wonder how would I react to the place I am right now. How happy, sad, satisfied or disappointed would I be, if my first day in this world would be today. My history, the good, the bad, the mistakes, the chances and everything in between. These thoughts help me take things as they come, see the bigger picture, not fret over things which aren't in my sphere of control. And sanity is residing within me for a longer time. 

I may not be able to Refresh completely but I can imagine myself in that position and make the most out of it.


FIRST

Five letter word. Memorable new experiences people go through as they live their lives. First words, first walk, first test, first friend, first crush, first superhero movie, first concert, first job, first heart break and the list goes on. Doing something for the first time means that a person is ready to take some amount of risk and is committed to doing one's best to make that first happen. A baby makes a zillion noises before actually getting words right. The same is with the first walk of our lives, we crawl and then fall and then finally make baby steps.

Out of all the firsts of my life, I wish I could remember the time when I fell in love with my family. The first time I realised the beauty of my Mother and Father. The first time I felt lucky to have two protective elder siblings and the first time I protected my younger sibling. I just wish I could remember the first time I experienced love so pure.


SONG

Four letter word. Musical melody accompanied by words. Powerful enough to evoke emotions and send goosebumps through your entire body- head to toe. Different genres of songs in the very many languages of our world.

People are like songs. Sometimes, true to themselves, the tempo matches the lyrics. A slow tempo for a sad song, a fast tempo for a happy song. And then there are times when the tempo and the lyrics don't match, much like a person who pretends to be happy when he is sad or like a person who couldn't quite express her true feelings.

Then there are people who are little different then others, like a song in a foreign language, you grow to like that song but don't quite understand what it means. You try to listen it again and again, until you make something out of it. And it goes on to become one of your favourites of all time.

So listen to the songs that people sing from their heart, feel their tempo and try to understand the lyrics. And in doing so you'll find the song of your life.
 

SHARE

Five letter word. The act of giving another something which belongs to someone. Articles, ideas, stories, fears, dreams - are all shared between people. They say that happiness multiples when it is shared and sorrow is divided when it is shared. Some people share more than others. Sharing is a way of letting people know that you need help or that they can approach you for any help. It is a means of knowing that we are not alone. Our problems, issues, fears aren't only ours and the shared experiences help in achieving peace of body and mind. 


PHOTO

Five letter word. A time and travel portal. Most commonly used as a way of capturing happy moments. The way of taking photos might have changed but the purpose remains the same. Each photo having its own backstory - that classic class/family photo  or solo selfies. 
Even a simple selfie has so much history behind it. Maybe you were just messing around or feeling low or good about yourself or missing someone and hoping they'd see this selfie.
For the normal humans, it helps in seeing things we could have never even imagined. The galaxies of universe, the life of the cold oceans, the magnificent natural wonders and our own planet Earth. 
Also secretly, a photo is a means of communication. It tellls us so much. It's a reminder of how much has changed with time and give us a realisation of how much things can change, for better or for worse.


TIME

Four letter word. Magical properties of healing all wounds and pains, but the scars still remain. Most precious gift one can give to another. Has the ability to stretch and contract. Waiting for someone seems like an eternity. And it flies when one spends time with that someone. It turns moments into memories. Hopefully we'll make the most out of the available short span of time that we've got on this planet Earth. 


FEAR

Four letter word. To be afraid of something is as normal as the Sun rising each day. Yet even after dealing with it on such a regular basis I can't seem to wrap my head around it. I figured out the first step : to accept it and ask for help. But what next? I seem to overcome my shape-shifting fears and give the credit to luck. I just got lucky, is all I say when I make it a milestone which scared the shit out of me when I was on the way to achieve it. But how long will I keep doing this? What's next?

Sounds of an Indian city

I was supposed to write about the ‘Honking Culture’ of India. When did it begin? How did it begin? I wonder. On the roads of the cities of this nation, it appears as if everyone is in a hurry. Language and Punishment

 Hello,  I happened to watch a documentary called 'Wisdom of Trauma' which moved me. It talks about how people take on addictions in the form of work, drugs, tobacco, sex, video games etc to feel better. People try to escape this reality which hurts them. The underlying intention of 'wanting to feel good/better' is what caught my attention. The escape that we choose, in my case I'd say I consume social media and also take writing as an escape from the reality. While this is unhealthy, but not demonised like other addictions, say smoking or drinking. I have been witness to what these addictions can do. And I realise why is it difficult to let go of these habits of escape. Help, addiction is but a cry for help. Next time, you use statements like 'I hate people who smoke/drink/do drugs', maybe think again. We tend to do self harm in different ways, but what we are in need of is help. God's Own

 2024 was a year when God called me a lot. My wedding was at a sacred place where the believers dream of organizing weddings. And then, the God’s Own Country called me not once, but twice after a gap of 16years(longer than vanvas). Though I was 14 years old, I don’t remember the details of most my school ‘excursion’ trip. I fell sick, had a fall out with ‘friends’, locked out one of my classmates and had explosive diarrhea on my train back home. Anyway, so not exactly a trip to remember. But I liked the places that we visited, though I do not remember their names. I remember the beaches, the Guruvayur and Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Sunset and sunrise point of Kanyakumari, some National Park, some waterfalls, the boat houses of Alappuzha and the non-existent toilets.   This was September of 2008, the monsoon of my last school year.
